Songs of Passion

It's Dazzling

The shimmer through your swirling hair,

That playful glint within your stare

That wishful shine upon those lips,

Oh, it's dazzling!

The thoughtful wrinkle upon your brow,

That charge that makes your eyes say "Wow!"

The honesty in your welcome smile,

Oh, so dazzling!

Is this love that burns my soul?

One look at you and I feel whole.

But I can't share this with you at all.

You speak to me as a dear friend,

But never look beyond that end.

I long to claim oh so much more!

Lord, it's dazzling!

In my dreams you've held me tight,

Yet I'm not worthy of that right.

Your shining star so humbles me!

Oh, it's dazzling!

Is this love that burns my soul?

One look at you and I feel whole.

Dare I risk sharing this with you at all?

I can not see how to overcome

The blinding chasm that keeps me from

Forging that great bond with you!

Oh, it's dazzling!

How could I risk losing what you give,

Dear friendship for as long as I live,

But to never hope to have it all?

Oh, that's dazzling!

Is this love that burns my soul?

One look at you and I feel whole.

Can I spend one more day without your heart?

He laughs when she challenges him, this newcomer to their block,

But his heckling turns to cheers when she handles all he's got.

His serve she returns with ease, her volleys buckle his pride.

Before he sees he's met his match, she's already at his side,

Teaming with him in doubles against others hitting their court.

And he welcomes the intrusion, his mind's on more than sport.

He wonders if they'll share classes, if she likes to sing or dance.

He hopes to find her at his church, and prays to have that chance.

For this is someone he is sure could be his friend for life.

This is someone special, someone he could make his wife.

She laughs in joy as she recalls all the silly things he did,

The poems with the crazy rhymes, his jealousy over Sid.

How his stray backhand knocked her senseless nearly an entire day.

How he carried her to the doctor, stayed at her side the whole way.

Through all those precious memories she realizes anew

His helping with her studies, walking her home, seeing her through,

The hand of God works in all those things in their lives,

And in that man at the altar, the love burning in his eyes.

And so she runs to him, knowing he'll stay hers for life.

For this is someone special. She will gladly be his wife.

The pain bounces through her like a pinball gone mad,

But she lets it wash over her, concentrating on the lad.

She feels him moving within her, straining to be free.

He's the source of this anguish, but she forgives each misery

And bares the shredding wounds, longing for the prize,

Which comes with welcome hands and a chorus of "ah's" and "aye's."

Her heart melts as the blessed child lays crying against her thigh,

But her joy comes as her husband lifts his new son high.

Three children she's given this man. She would gladly give him more.

For like her God, there's nothing she wouldn't do to for the one she adores.

He struggles out of bed, arthritis burning his back and knees,

And he prays that on this morning, she'll regain her memories.

But the stroke has left deep scars, and so she lays there in silent fear,

Gazing at family pictures, not recognizing anything near.

She reels at his touch, but soft words help her understand

That she just might live in this strange house with this caring old man.

And so she lets him serve her breakfast and dress her for the day,

Not seeing the growing wound he bears that it must be this way.

Nothing in his life has ever hurt as much as this,

And yet he'd gladly bear still more to repay her for each kiss.

For like His God, there's nothing he wouldn't give for the one he loves.

Like His God, there's nothing he wouldn't give for the one he loves.

Love
Wherever I Go

Wherever I go, Whatever I do,

Whatever I see, I want you there with me

Wherever I go, Whatever I do,

Whatever I see, I want you to share it with me

For there's nothing in this world I love more than you.

You bring new meaning to my life every day.

You're the greatest gift from God that I could ever have.

I wouldn't want it  any other way.

Wherever I go, Whatever I do,

Whatever I see, I need you to be there with me

Wherever I go, Whatever I do,

Whatever I see, I need you to share it with me

I can't imagine walking this world with you not by my side.

Every step spring to life along your way.

You're the greatest gift from God that I will ever have.

I cherish each and every single day.

Yes, I cherish every single day.

The Wonder of It All

We awaken to each day as another task at bay.

So we schedule all we see to fit our purpose and decree.

Thus we blindly turn away from the beauty that fills each day

And we never truly see God's precious world as it could be!

Oh, the wonder of it all is that we ever live at all.

The wonder of it all is that we ever live at all!

Was there ever such a cage as this strange place where we engage

All our time and energy in pointless thrills and vanity?

Never stopping to question why, we throw ourselves into this lie

And so we sink in man's debris and put at risk our destiny.

Oh, the wonder of it all is that we ever live at all.

The wonder of it all is that we ever live at all!

Why not ask yourself, just what you do

That brings you joy and sees you through?

Then hold that test against your life.

Does it foster love, or endless strife?

Oh, the wonder of it all is that we ever live at all.

The wonder of it all is that we ever live at all!

It's not too late to change.

It's never too late to change!

Oh, the wonder of it all is that we ever live at all.

The wonder of it all is that we ever live at all!

My One

Honey, there's something

I've just got to say

While I've got the nerve to try.

All these years you've loved me,

Yet I never shared with you

The way you make me feel inside.

How it thrills me to touch you

In the depths of the night,

Knowing I'll rise to find you there!

How I love to watch you

Just walk across the room!

How I long to hold you tight!

One glance from you

And I thirst for more!

One word from you

And my spirits soar!

One smile from you

Pierces to my core!

One, just one!

All it takes is one!

There's nothing so beautiful

As the shine on your lips

Except for the love in your eyes.

Or maybe the passion

When you hug all our kids,

Treasuring each moment of their lives.

Your patience and kindness

Inspire all I do,

Knowing your faith upholds my life.

There's no one on earth

I trust more than you!

No one else can ever make it right.

One glance from you

And I thirst for more!

One word from you

And my spirits soar!

One smile from you

Pierces to my core!

One! You're that one!

Thank you for being my one!

I'm the One

I’m the one you ignore as you pass down the street,

Chat on your phone, or skip to a beat.

I’m the one you glance over when taking in sights,

Staking your claim, proclaiming your rights.

I’m the one that you know just can’t understand

The way that you think, the goals that you plan.

I’m the one that you’re sure just won’t ever fit in your life.

I’m the one in the way of your great social climb,

Slowing you down, just wasting your time.

I’m the one you would like to see just go away,

Keep out of sight and not darken your day.

I’m the one you avoid so you need not feel shame,

Stay uninvolved to shed any blame.

I’m the one that you can’t see taking a part in your life.

I’m all this and more, as you sense in your heart.

I’m what God created, a sign of His art.

I’m the one Christ hung on the cross to save.

I’m the one whose sins He forgave.

When will you open up your eyes to see

We’re just the same, you and me?

The truth’s as simple as simple can be.

I’m you, and you’re me.

I’m you, and you’re me.

I’m the one you could count on to answer your call,

Fly to your aid when your back’s to the wall.

I’m the one to dare tell you you’re on the wrong path,

Striving to help out in spite of your wrath.

I’m the one who would love to do all of these things

If you’d just cut away your prejudiced strings.

I’m the one who believes you can do so much more with your life.

I’m the one…. I’m the one…

The Ways of Love

We speak of love and sing of love,

Call for love and pray in love,

And yet we can’t seem to find

Common grounds that lead to love,

Bring us love or fuel our love.

We let our fears rob us blind.

Until we understand

The building blocks that forge demand

We will never realize

The things of love that lead to love,

Build our love and keep our love.

It takes far more than compromise.

It’s right before our eyes.

To give food and shelter from life’s bitter squall,

To offer a soft shoulder when tears start to fall,

To gather in your arms those too weak to crawl,

Those are the ways of love.

Those are the ways of love.

To hear with an open mind the swings of a heart,

To overlook those many things that may set us apart,

To forgive transgressions before problems may start,

Those are the ways of love.

Those are the ways of love.

To speak the truth and seek out the same,

To pour out hope and cast out all blame,

To learn from trials, freed from shame,

Those are the ways of love.

Those are the ways of love.

To look upon each breath as a moment to share,

To reach out to others and show them you care,

To never turn away from a burden you may bear,

Those are the ways of love.

Those are the ways,

Those are the ways,

Those are the ways of love.
