Waking from a troubled dream,

It's hard to tell the vision's seam

From the loose, wind-swept shreds

Of the many tattered threads

Of my life...

Of my life...

It seems that chaos runs amuck

When the paths of love get stuck

Within the silly, mindless glaze

Of selfish lusts and half-baked praise

In my life...

In my life...

Swimming daily through this stew

Threatens to undo the glue

Struggling to uphold the ties that bind me.

To think that I could ever find

Someone who would want my mind

Seems more a lie than lies seem to me.

What this means I can not tell,

For meanings shift within this cell

As I wage my private war

To prove I'm not a useless bore

In this life...

In this life...

I only know it never ends,

But rather blends as it rends

All the things I care about,

Twisting truth into doubt

Through this life...

Through this life...

Upon the Solid Rock I stand,

Waiting for the mighty hand

Sure to pierce the shadows that confound me.

Yet I feel so all alone,

As a seed left on the stone,

Life seems more a dream than dreams seem to me.

Fear
Future’s End, or How I Finally Stopped Resisting and Faced my Seldon Crisis

Old Hari Seldon had it right.

Our future’s end is now in sight.

We’ve given up without a fight.

Yes, Hari Seldon truly had it right.

Where once they tracked us by our stars,

Or from the numbers on our cars,

Now they know our secret scars

From our likes, our swipes and bars.

Things once guarded at all cost

We freely give to all the lost,

Pretending how it’s all so glossed

While piled upon the garbage tossed.

What we didn’t understand

Was how they’d take these grains of sand

And twist them with a guiding hand

To cast their sway across the land.

They tell us what we need to know

And make it seem just such a show

That we foresee a damning blow

If we don’t join in all they sow.

All the while they speed the pace

That drives us in this endless race

And limits thinking through each case

Yet never leaves a telltale trace.

Thus they sneak right by our wits

And seek to lure us to their pits,

All the while staging skits

That hide the fact we’re silly twits.

Silly twits!

Old Hari Seldon had it right.

Our future’s end is now in sight.

We’ve given up without a fight.

Yes, Hari Seldon truly had it right.

Can’t you see it? Don’t you feel it?

It’s in each stare, and all we dare!

Could you shake it, stand up and face it?

This infectious snare lies everywhere!

Everywhere!

Old Hari Seldon had it right.

Our future’s end is now in sight.

We’ve given up without a fight.

Yes, Hari Seldon, oh, Hari Seldon truly had it right!

Fallen Snow

There was a time, not long ago,

When love seemed pure as fallen snow,

And friends would flock at every call

To lend a hand and give their all.

What a time that was!

Oh, what a time!

I miss those days of carefree joy,

When kindness came without a ploy,

And everyone could disagree

And yet retain their harmony.

What I would give for that again!

Oh, what I would give…

I understand that everything

May change as time improves its swing.

Still, I miss the integrity

That so distinguished you and me.

It seems with age we lose the skill

To share ourselves in true good will.

And yet it’s more than that…

So much more than that…

There came a time I learned for sure

That falling snow is never pure,

And sometimes love will fail to shine,

Just like certain friends of mine.

Oh, what a time that was!

What a sad time….

This I learned from bitter turns

When good intentions left just burns

And bids to lend a helping hand

Revealed hearts of shifting sand.

What I would give for another chance!

Oh, what I would give…

For what are we but blades of grass

That seek the sky yet fade so fast?

Even love may fail in such a case,

But for God’s eternal grace.

That’s the truth of man, you see,

As shown by just one look at me.

Yet who is worthy to throw that stone?

No one… No, not one…

Oh, for that time, not long ago,

When love seemed pure as fallen snow,

And friends would flock at every call

To lend a hand and give their all.

What I would give for that again!

Oh, what I would give…

I Stand Amazed

I stand amazed at the things I have seen,

The throes of birth, and death’s chill sheen!

I stand amazed at the love cast aside.

Souls drenched in wealth, yet never satisfied!

I stand amazed at this ever-spreading hate,

Our selfish pride, and lusts that can’t wait!

I stand amazed at all the hearts stripped bare,

The pain endured, the dreams in despair!

The blood we spill with our words we little know,

Wrapped in anger we can’t contain,

Resisting answers to the questions we all sow,

Never learning from lessons gained!

I stand amazed! I stand amazed!

I stand amazed at the hope that never dies!

The weary find rest, the broken learn to rise!

I stand amazed at the faith that still thrives!

The peace it fuels, and the mercy it drives!

All drawn from grace of a depth we can’t explain,

And of forgiveness we can’t define!

All gifts of love from our Father, who took our chains,

And gave His Son, our Savior divine!

I stand amazed at the things I have seen!

The lives Christ saves, the sins He washes clean!

I stand amazed at the world He redeems!

The truth it waves, the blood it esteems!

To feel the hearts of believers all rejoice

The day our Lord made His stand!

To hear the faithful praise their God in one voice,

“Our great salvation is at hand!”

I stand amazed! I stand amazed!

Agape

The time has come to start anew

And find that place where you belong.

Know my blessings go before you

And my faith in you runs strong.

Wherever you go, my heart follows.

Whatever you do, my love grows.

Whenever you hurt, my soul sorrows.

Whatever you need, my grace flows.

Countless paths will wind before you.

Endless choices will mark each day.

As you seek where this world needs you,

Know my spirit will guide you way.

Wherever you go, my heart follows.

Whatever you do, my love grows.

Whenever you hurt, my soul sorrows.

Whatever you need, my grace flows.

I pray our paths will come together

And I will see you once again,

But know my dreams for you never waiver

And my faith will never wain.

Wherever you go, my heart follows.

Whatever you do, my love grows.

Whenever you hurt, my soul sorrows.

Whatever you need, my grace flows.

Stones

Let His Spirit guide you where it will,

And let Jesus, the bread of life, give you His peace,

Now and forever, Amen!

Come to the Christ, the living stone,

Rejected by men, yet chosen by God.

Come to the Christ, the living stone,

And be part of His holy priesthood,

Gathered by our Lord into His holy house.

Amen!  Amen!

If your children ask for bread, will you

give them a stone?

If your children ask for bread, will you

give them a stone?

Come to the Christ, the living stone,

Rejected by men, yet chosen by God!

Come to the Christ, the living stone,

And be part of His holy priesthood,

Gathered by our Lord into His holy house.

Amen!  Amen!

God has a purpose for everything,

Even the stones beneath your feet.

Each has its own lesson to share.

From pillows to pillars, windows to weapons,

He uses all with great care.

God had stones cut into bricks to raise His

Temple,

He rolled one into groves to seal a tomb,

And the rocks in the road He used to guide

His beloved Son

As Jerusalem welcomed its king.

‘If these people were silent, the very stones would cry out!”

This Jesus told the angry pharisees.

Yet their hearts of stone rejected our Lord,

And so they crucified His Son.

And on the third day, God raised Jesus from the dead.

God has a purpose for everything,

Even that death on the cross:

Forgiveness for the sins we all bear.

And so the stone the builders rejected

Became our cornerstone!

His love endures forever!

So when you find that stream you cannot cross,

Or giants taunting your every move,

You can turn to the One who can roll away each stone.
