Forgiveness

It’s a choice you will face each day of your life,

As you walk through this world and cross paths with strife.

This process can save you a lifetime of pain

If you open your heart and let your love reign.

Do you see it?

Can you feel it?

Could you give it?

Forgiveness!

Do you want it?

You can have it!

Will you take it?

Forgiveness! Yes, forgiveness!

You ask how I can live this way. I could say the same of you.

You shroud yourself in anger. It shapes all you do.

But if you looked to others instead of selfish needs

You might escape the hopeless frustration that breeds.

Don’t you know it?

Can’t you feel it?

Could you give it?

Forgiveness!

Do you want it?

You can have it!

Will you take it?

Forgiveness! Yes, forgiveness!

It’s the greatest of gifts, and the strongest defense

From corrosive guilt and hate’s bitter pretense.

I know it’s not easy, and at times may seem wrong,

But trust me: it takes compassion to truly be strong.

Try to see it!

Reach out and feel it!

I know you can give it!

Forgiveness!

Do you want it?

You can have it!

Will you take it?

Forgiveness! Yes, forgiveness!

I know you’ve been hurt. Believe me, so have I.

There’s times we both thought it’d be easier to die.

But I’ve healed my wounds by not living in the past.

You’ll find that choice can bring you hope that will last.

Do you see it?

Can you feel it?

Could you give it?

Forgiveness!

Do you want it?

You can have it!

Will you take it?

Forgiveness! Yes, forgiveness!
